To say that Zack Godley is not a household name is one of the understatements of the millennium.
He started the year in Triple-A and had a 6.51 ERA in 2016, most Dbacks fans barely knew who he was or thought he stunk.
However, the 2017 Godley has been a completely different story.
He was called up after Shelby Miller’s season-ending injury in April and looks to have turned the corner at the major league level.
In 15 starts this season, Godley has a 2.86 ERA, 1.0 WHIP, and 9.16 K/9 rate. His most recent start against the Cubs at Wrigley was a gem: 6 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K and a W. He also currently owns a 13-inning scoreless streak.
And don’t even get me started on the goatee! Just look at this guy, what is there not to like!
Godley has established himself as a very nice starting pitcher and the Dbacks need him to continue at this pace if they hope to have the postseason success Arizona fans are craving.
